Léhon, one of France’s prettiest villages, is just a short walk along
the river to Dinan – probably the most attractive town in Brittany.
This very attractive stone cottage is in a perfect location by the
hump backed bridge which crosses the river Rance. Just 20 minutes
walk along the towpath to Dinan port.
Accommodation
The cottage has a beamed living room with large open fireplace &
door to garden. It is spacious and attractively furnished and
decorated. The cottage has French TV reception only but there
is a DVD player so be sure to bring your favourite DVDs with you.

The separate, fully equipped kitchen, has electric oven, 4 ring
gas hob, microwave oven, dishwasher and huge fridge/freezer

Stairs lead from the living room to the first floor where there
is a double bedded room, a twin bedded room, a bathroom with over
bath shower and a separate WC

There is a second staircase leading to the top floor where there
is a pretty double bedded room with sloping ceilings and an en-suite
shower room/WC. The second bedroom has twin beds making this floor
ideal for a couple with one or two children

All bed linen and personal towels are provided but please bring
your own beach towels. Cots and high chairs are available for up to
two babies
The cottage has gas central heating, making it an ideal holiday
choice at any time of year.
There is a private enclosed garden, mainly laid to grass, edged with
shrubs and flowers. To the left of the garden are two small
outbuildings. The one nearest the cottage houses the washing machine
and the second one contains the garden table and chairs, bicycles and
barbecue.
The village
Léhon is almost too pretty to be true. The single street,
leads from a romantic ruined castle atop a hill down to a little
hump backed bridge over the river, passing a superb abbey church on
the way. The street is pedestrianised and the stone cottages which
line it are bedecked with flowers throughout the summer. The cottage
is close to the bridge. Three doors further up is a small
restaurant. Further up the cobbled street, past the abbey church and
cloisters, is the heated open air swimming pool and children’s pool.
Just past these, at the top of the village, there are indoor tennis
courts. Also a bar/tabac and a baker with excellent baguettes,
croissants and patisserie. A few minutes along the road towards
Dinan is a butcher (who also has a few basic groceries). All within
a few minutes stroll. For serious shopping the Leclerc hypermarket
is a 5 minute drive.
The walk along the river into Dinan port is about 25 minutes though
it will possibly take longer as there are always ducks and moorhens
to distract you and maybe even a kingfisher if you are very lucky.
Being a local beauty spot, Léhon naturally attracts visitors at
weekends. The magnificent abbey church is a popular and photogenic
choice for spring and summer weddings and it is not unusual to see a
bride being photographed in the village or beside the river. Sunday
mass is at 10h30.
Dinan is a captivating town. The old centre is small enough
to explore on foot but with plenty to provide interest for a stay of
one or two weeks or more. Though it may look like a film set, Dinan
is not just a tourist attraction. It is a vibrant town where people
live and work throughout the year. The market is held on Thursday
morning and is a great opportunity to sample local produce. During
the summer there are many small events and attractions and every two
years the town stages its well known Fête des Remparts, one of the
biggest medieval festivals in Europe, when Dinan returns to the
Middle Ages for a weekend of jousting, battles etc. Great fun for
all the family.
The cottage comfortably sleeps 8 plus 2 babies but there is seating
for six persons only in the living room, making the cottage suitable
for up to six adults. There is dining furniture for 8 people & 2
highchairs. We regret that a maximum of two babies & two children
under 12 years is accepted.
Since the top floor can easily be shut off, the cottage is also
available for parties of 4, in which case a reduction is available
(mid and low season only). Please ask for details.
The cottage is looked after by a local manager who is just a
telephone call away if help or advice is needed.
