Léhon, one of France’s prettiest villages, is just a short walk along the river to Dinan – probably the most attractive town in Brittany, even, some would say, France.

This very appealing stone cottage is in a perfect location by the hump backed bridge which crosses the river Rance. Just 20 minutes walk along the towpath to Dinan port.

Accommodation

The cottage has a beamed living room with large granite fireplace & door to garden. It is beautifully furnished and comfortable with pale leather sofas and fabrics and has a calm, relaxing feel. The furniture is a mix of modern and old pieces, thus retaining the cottage's character while providing modern comforts and facilities such as satellite TV & DVD player

The kitchen is fully equipped with dishwasher, washing machine etc and has French windows to the garden where there is a gas barbecue and furniture for dining outside

First floor: Large double bedded room with windows front and back. En-suite bathroom/WC.
Single room with en-suite shower/WC.

Second floor: Very large twin room with en-suite shower room/WC.

All bed linen and personal towels are provided but please bring your own beach towels. The cottage has gas central heating, making it an ideal holiday choice at any time of year.

Exterior: There is a small enclosed rear garden, mainly laid to gravel, edged with shrubs and flowers. Garden table and chairs. Gas barbecue. There are also two bicycles so you can ride along the towpath to Dinan port for lunch or a drink in one of the riverside cafés or restaurants

The village

Léhon is almost too pretty to be true. The single street, leads from a romantic ruined castle atop a hill down to a little hump backed bridge over the river, passing a superb abbey church on the way. The street is pedestrianised and the stone cottages which line it are bedecked with flowers throughout the summer. The cottage is close to the bridge. Two doors further up is a small restaurant. Further up the cobbled street, past the abbey church and cloisters, is the heated open air swimming pool. Just past this, at the top of the village, there are indoor tennis courts. Also a bar/tabac and a baker with excellent baguettes, croissants and pastries. A few minutes along the road towards Dinan is a superb butcher (who also has a few basic groceries). All within a few minutes stroll. For serious shopping the Leclerc hypermarket is a 5 minute drive.

The walk along the river into Dinan port is about 25 minutes though it will possibly take longer as there are always ducks and moorhens to distract you and maybe even a kingfisher if you are very lucky.

Being a local beauty spot, Léhon naturally attracts visitors at weekends. The magnificent abbey is a popular and photogenic choice for spring and summer weddings and it is not unusual to see a bride being photographed in the village or beside the river. Sunday mass is at 10h30.

Dinan is a captivating town. The old centre is small enough to explore on foot but with plenty to provide interest for a stay of one or two weeks or more. Though it may look like a film set, Dinan is not just a tourist attraction. It is a vibrant town where people live and work throughout the year. The market is held on Thursday morning and is a great opportunity to sample local produce. During the summer there are many small events and attractions and every two years the town stages its well known Fête des Remparts, one of the biggest medieval festivals in Europe, when Dinan returns to the Middle Ages for a weekend of jousting, battles etc. Great fun for all the family.

The cottage sleeps 5 comfortably. Since the top and back bedrooms can easily be shut off,
it is also available just for a couple, in which case a reduction is available (low and some mid season weeks only).

The owners, who live on the outskirts of Léhon, care for the cottage personally and are a telephone call away if you need help.

The cottage is available for long winter lets – please ask for prices.
