This attractive cottage is situated in the hamlet of Mirette on
the outskirts of Plumaudan, a lively small village 12 km (about 7.5
miles) south of the beautiful medieval town of Dinan, Brittany.
The original cottage was extended in 2005 to provide a second
bedroom, shower room and modern kitchen. The exterior of both have
been cream rendered to blend the two parts attractively.
This is a really welcoming little place to return to after a day
exploring the delights of Dinan and this wonderful part of Brittany.
Accommodation
The old cottage now comprises a cosy living room with comfortable
sofa and armchairs grouped around a nice old fireplace with an
attractive log burning stove. There is satellite TV and lots of
board games for those nights you want to stay in.
A folding dining table is placed in front the window adjacent to the
doorway to the kitchen in the new part of the cottage.
The new extension has a large, light, fully equipped kitchen with
electric oven, gas hob, microwave oven, washing machine.
There is a lobby from the kitchen with two doors off one leading
to a shower room with washbasin and WC.
The second door from the lobby leads into a really pretty double
bedded room with French windows to the garden
Back in the old part of the house open tread stairs lead from the
sitting room to a good size twin bedded room and a second shower
room with washbasin and WC
The village
The village of Plumaudan is well serviced with an excellent bakery,
a small general store, a couple of bars, tabac etc.
Nearby Dinan is a captivating town. The medieval centre is small
enough to explore on foot but with plenty to provide interest for a
stay of one or two weeks. Though it may look like a film set, Dinan
is not just a tourist attraction. It is a vibrant town where people
live and work throughout the year. The market is held on Thursday
morning. During the summer there are many small events and
attractions and every two years the town stages its well known Fκte
des Remparts, one of the biggest medieval festivals in Europe, when
Dinan returns to the Middle Ages for a weekend of jousting, battles
etc.
